The recent groundbreaking at Landes Terrace marked the beginning of something extraordinary: 14 new homes built in partnership with local families, volunteers, and supporters. It was a joyful moment, full of promise and momentum.

We broke ground with 14 golden shovels—one for each future home. The shovels were held by Board members, elected officials, and future homeowners.

Congresswoman Emily Randall spoke, sharing her story and affirming her deep commitment to advancing affordable housing for all. Her words reminded us that housing is a shared responsibility and a powerful tool for justice.

Landes Terrace is Habitat’s new 14-home, permanently affordable neighborhood in Port Townsend. It’s designed for people who want to own a home that’s affordable, well-located,
and built to last.

Situated just across from Safeway and the Jefferson County transit center, Landes Terrace offers both convenience and connection. Homes are paired and arranged to maximize space and create a comfortable community feel. Each is organized in a terraced layout that encourages open sightlines and shared spaces, keeping costs low while still offering privacy. The neighborhood’s configuration and shared green areas will create a truly livable community.

Each home will be sold at a price well below the current market rate. Homeowners will pay an affordable mortgage, never more than one-third of their monthly income. Buying at Landes Terrace means more than just purchasing a house: it’s an opportunity to build equity, gain long-term housing security, and become part of a supportive community. Construction is now underway, and homes will be ready for move-in sooner than you think.
