Why volunteer with Habitat?

Volunteering is a great way to:
  • Make a read difference in our community
  • Learn new skills and meet amazing people
  • Support the urgent need for more affordable housing

You can help build hope by volunteering:

    • On our construction sites
    • In the Habitat Store
    • At community events
    • In our office
    • On one of our committees
    • And more!

Together, we’re building something lasting–thank you for being part of it!

Urgent need – Join the Store Pick-Up Crew!

Love teamwork, meeting people, and getting a good workout while you do good? Wondering if you can meet your goal of being on every road in East Jefferson County? Our Habitat Pick-Up Crew rides along in the box truck to help collect donations from generous community members — furniture, appliances, and more that keep our Store stocked, which in turn helps fund homes being built!

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

    • Able to lift and move heavy items (with help, of course!)
    • Friendly and great team players, willing to be the face of Habitat with donors in their homes
    • Not required to drive, but driving opportunities are available for trained and insured volunteers

This is a key volunteer role for the Habitat Store. Our Pick-Up Crew keeps the whole cycle of donation, reuse, and homebuilding moving. Sign up for a volunteer orientation today and be one of our big helpers with a big impact!

    Qualified Loan Originator

We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Qualified Loan Originator Volunteer Consultant to join our team at Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County. The QLO volunteer will help families move closer to fulfilling the dream of homeownership.

In this role, you’ll meet with applicants to review their eligibility for Habitat’s Homeownership Program, assess their ability to obtain financing, and offer recommendations tailored to their unique situations. This is a unique and flexible volunteer role requiring about one day per week, with variable scheduling, and you’ll be supported with training in current loan origination best practices, confidentiality, safeguarding, and more. If you have knowledge of mortgage lending practices, a heart for service, and a desire to empower families on their path to stability, we’d love to hear from you! There will be an interview process for this position to ensure the correct fit.

Please email Amy at volunteer@habitatejc.org with your interest–or if you know someone who might be fantastic for this specialized role.

Help With the Care of our Vehicles

Do you have a clean driving record and a knack for keeping things in good shape? We’re looking for a volunteer to help with the care of our vehicles, and the main task is a simple one: periodically taking our F-150 to the car wash. Because it has a rack on top, it can’t go through a drive-through, but the good news is there’s a full-service car wash conveniently located right next to Habitat. The job includes a quick tidy of the cab beforehand, clearing out any miscellaneous construction supplies and random debris that tend to accumulate between washes.

This volunteer would be added to our insurance, so a good driving record is required. If this sounds like your kind of contribution, we’d love to hear from you! Email Amy at volunteer@habitatejc.org.
