Landes North 2022-2023
Six Homes Completed in a Year!
In early 2022, we announced the thrilling news that Habitat EJC had bought a parcel of land situated at the intersection of Landes and 18th Streets in Port Townsend. We unveiled preliminary architectural plans for the project at an early stage and appealed to you for contributions to support the construction of six permanently affordable homes.
To Mason Street and Beyond!
From Zero to 150 at Warp Speed
In 2022, Habitat EJC and the Jefferson Community Foundation (JCF) joined forces to secure ownership of a 17-acre land parcel in Port Hadlock, Washington. This pioneering and cooperative venture has garnered noteworthy attention for Habitat EJC, as we were chosen from among 1,100 affiliate organizations within Habitat for Humanity International.
In a presentation to Habitat for Humanity International, titled “From Zero to 150 at Warp Speed: How One Habitat Is Responding to its Community’s Bold Ambitions”, Executive Director Jamie Maciejewski shared a core element to the success of this project: cultivating extensive community relationships and demonstrating a history of achievements.
September Home Dedications
Welcome New Homeowners
We extend a warm welcome to Garnett, as well as, Taylor, Karim and their children as we celebrate the home dedication ceremonies in September.
On September 26, 2023, we proudly handed over new home keys to Garnett as he took occupancy of the fifth home completed at Landes North in Port Townsend, Washington. Next, we hosted the sixth and final home dedication ceremony to be held at Landes North for Taylor, her partner Karim, and their children Cualli and Sage. They received their keys on September 27, 2023.
Both events were well attended and a wonderful time was had by all! These heartwarming events are generously sponsored by our homeowner services committee. Thank you to all who joined!
Summer RV Care-A-Vanners
Thank You!
As summer draws to a close, it marks the departure of our cherished Care-A-Vanners. Our community holds a deep appreciation for all the traveling volunteers who joined us on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula to contribute to our build projects. We consider ourselves fortunate to be blessed with an abundance of considerate and skilled volunteers locally and love showing off our community to the Care-A-Vanners that join us from as far away as Connecticut and Alberta, Canada and as close as Poulsbo.
This year, Habitat EJC was joined by seven groups of Care-A-Vanners, comprised of a total of 29 volunteers. Care-a-vanners contributed over 1,700 hours (about 2 and a half months) of volunteer time to Habitat EJC, while supporting build projects that included everything from framing to landscaping—every stage of building. Huge thanks to our Care-A-Vanners (and to everyone who helped us welcome them)! We hope to see you next year!
