Landes North
A Permanently Affordable Community
- Landes North hosts six homes. Four (4) are two-bedroon and two (2) are three-bedroom homes.
- Each home is approximately 900 t 1200 square feet.
- Paired homes. Similar to duplex-style housing, paired homes have a couple of key differences:
1) Thanks to zero lot line zoning, each home stands on it’s own plot of land rather than sharing the ground beneath it. The zero lot line means that a home’s wall can touch the edge of the lot rather than having a minimum set-back.
2) Although the homes appear to share a common wall, they actually have their own walls with an insulated space between them. - Advanced Framing. This construction technique reduces use of lumber and increases insulation efficiency, translating to a lower cost to build and reduced energy cost for the homeowner.
- Mindful construction. Excess sheetrock is collected and turned into fertilizer, and all styrofoam is recycled.
- Permanently affordable. Landes North is part of Habitat’s new Permanent Affordability program. A Habitat homeowner will purchase a home at an affordable rate. Their mortgage will not exceed 30% of their income. In exchange for affordable housing, a homeowner agrees to limit the appreciation on their home. If and when a homeowner decides to sell, they will sell at a price that should be affordable to someone else in the same economic bracket.
