Group & Community Builds
People coming together to build homes and build community.
Group and Community Builds offer a hands-on way to make a lasting impact here in East Jefferson County. At a time when affordable housing remains out of reach for many, coming together as a group to support this work creates something tangible, something lasting, and something shared.
How to Participate
- Sign up for a Women Build or Pride Build event
- Gather your ‘community’, whether you are part of a workplace, faith community, civic group, or organization
- If you travel the country in your RV and are interested in coming to East Jefferson County, sign up as a Care-A-Vanner
What to Expect
You do not need any prior construction experience to participate. Just come ready to learn and be part of the day.
- Work alongside experienced Habitat site supervisors on real construction tasks
- Tasks are matched to your group’s comfort level, with guidance provided every step of the way
- All tools, safety equipment, and training are provided
- Lunch and snacks are included
- Please note – you do not need to fill out the volunteer application
Group and Community Builds are an opportunity to step out of your usual roles and work side by side toward a common goal.
Groups often find that time on site is about more than construction. It strengthens relationships, builds connection, and creates a shared sense of purpose.
