Home is the Key
Providing Stability through Affordable Housing
A key. It’s such a simple thing that it’s easy to forget how empowering holding one can be.
At a recent home dedication, I noticed the children of our newest homeowners at play, delightedly tugging a giant blue key. Though it was a simple cardboard prop, created to mark this special occasion, their excitement over holding the key could be felt through the room.
Equally palpable was their parents’ sense of excitement over receiving their own key, the actual key to their new home. Just a few short years ago, holding this key felt like an impossibility to them, a dream they would always be chasing. But then they partnered with Habitat to make their dream reality.
Now they are able and excited to unlock doors, not only to their home, but to the many opportunities homeownership will provide their family, thanks to supporters like you.
In 2024 we helped eight homeowner families unlock the doors to housing stability, all while designing and planning three upcoming neighborhoods, Cliff Street Cottages (six homes), Landes Terrace (14 homes), and the Mason Street Neighborhood in Port Hadlock (138 homes). (You can read more here.)
We are building more homes than ever, in response to the growing need for affordable housing in our community.
We are answering the call. Our supporters – YOU – inspire us daily. And we are urged forward by those who call this community home – people who work in our businesses and schools, care for our senior citizens and children – but who can’t afford the housing. We need all of them. We need you.
